The
Wolf Sessions July 16, 2005 Red Rocks Amphitheater
When Phil Lesh decided to take Jerry Garcia's guitar Wolf out on tour to raise funds for the Unbroken Chain Foundation I knew that it would strike an emotional chord with Deadheads. I was both honored and surprised when Phil asked me to lend musical support for the UBC auction winner Steve Farrell during 'The Wolf Sessions'. While waiting to take the stage, Steve informed me that he had seen me play at the recent Vassar Clements benefit in New York City and he dug my performance. With our heads filled with an anxious rush of adrenalin in a 95 degree heat, we joined Phil, Rob Barraco, Barry Sless, and Jonathan Levine through an energetic romp of Grateful Dead classics: 'I Know You Rider', and 'Bertha'. Red Rocks Amphitheater is a very magical place and the magical musical conversation that we all had that afternoon is something that will not be soon forgotten.
I've known Larry Hulst since I moved to California. His stunning portfolio includes photos of Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and Jerry Garcia (playing Wolf) are amongst the many legendary artists that have appeared through his lens.
I love you all!
